The Sacrament of Holy Communion
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” – Matthew 26:26-29
Our Understanding of the Lord’s Supper
We believe that it is a great privilege to attend the Lord’s Supper. We believe that in the Lord’s Supper you receive the true Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ given for us Christians to eat and to drink. In this Holy Supper you are given forgiveness and the assurance of God’s love in Christ. Because this is true, we ask that only those who have the same understanding of the Lord’s Supper come forward and partake of this Sacrament. May God bless your worship with us here at Immanuel and may your faith in Christ be strengthened.
