(Ephesians 6:1—13)

You’ve heard the saying, “Those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail.” I am sure you’ve seen this truth played out in your day to day life. Our Scripture today reminds us that we are in a battle, and our enemy is looking to destroy us. We had better be prepared. However, working hard, eating healthy, arming yourself with the best weapons of the day will not fend off the enemy. On our own we are powerless against the enemy. The devil, spiritual forces of evil, and even our sinful nature can and will destroy us.

But God’s Word reminds us that we are not alone. We have been clothed with the armor of God. We have been clothed with Christ. The crucified and risen Jesus fights for us as we cling to him in faith. As difficult as life may be – Christ has won the battle. Christ has won the war. How do you prepare for battle? Confess your sins and trust in Christ alone. The battle belongs to the Lord!
