This Week’s Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:1-16, John 6:22-35
Connection Points 8-12-18 (Ephesians 4:1-16)
Paul has established who we are: Forgiven Sinners Redeemed by the Blood of the Crucified and Risen Lord! He now moves on to explaining what life as a child of God actually looks like. God makes you holy and then God makes you useful. The second half od Ephesians is not a “to do” list for Christians. Instead it is a picture of what the Holy Spirit is going to do to you and through you for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
The Holy Spirit, working through the Word, grows us up in the faith. The Spirit binds us together in Christ, reveals the truth of the Scriptures, and gives us gifts in order that the Body of Christ might be built up. So please don’t forget who you are: A Forgiven Sinner Redeemed by the Blood of the Crucified and Risen Lord!
