What does VBS at Immanuel look like?
While we don't follow a boxed curriculum, Immanuel's VBS looks, in many ways, like a traditional Vacation Bible School. Children are divided into small groups (usually 8-12 per group), paired with a leader, and led through game, story, music, snack, and activity stations. Here are a few sample schedules:
What will we be learning?
This year's theme comes from Job 11:7-9
Can you fathom the mysteries of God?
Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do?
They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know?
Their measure is longer than the earth
and wider than the sea.
While Job's story of trusting God through hardship may seem like an unusual fit for a summer children's program, our week will center around the wonder of a God of infinite knowledge and power who not only created an amazing world, but loved it enough to redeem everything that's broken - that's a message that's worth celebrating at any age!
Our daily key ideas are:
Day 1 - God made an amazing world with amazing things (and people!) in it.
Day 2 - God's amazing world is broken by sin - sometimes bad things happen.
Day 3 - When we feel sad and confused, we can remember that God knows what he's doing (and he's with us!)
Day 4 - That God of all power and wisdom has shown us everything we need to know - our Redeemer lives!
